The Hooker Oak Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a passionate group of parents, teachers and staff who work together to enhance the educational experience of all students at Hooker Oak Elementary School. Being involved is one way to further your child’s education, learn more about the school and meet other parents in our community.

Besides raising an average of $40,000 per year, the PTO makes the decisions on where the money is spent and which events to bring to the school—100% of the money raised goes directly back to benefit our students.

The PTO initiates community-based events and family fun nights to include the entire Hooker Oak community. We lay out the year of events and fundraisers and are the main people responsible for their success:

  • Jog-a-thon

  • Sprouting Business Market

  • Art Show

  • Scoop and Serenade

  • Read-a-thon + Book Fair

  • Carnival and MORE!

What is the PTO?

Where does the money go?

The PTO puts on multiple fundraisers and events throughout the year. These fundraisers raised a total of $35,000 last year! Where does all that money go? It helps fund things that are not funded by the district or state, such as:

Field Trips

We sponsor one field trip per class each year, and sponsor the 3rd-5th grade Cal Skate Field Trip.

Supplemental Curriculum

Every Spring we hire a dance program to teach the kids choreography and enjoy watching their performances!

Classroom and Teacher supplies

We gave over $15,000 last year directly to our teachers, to spend on classroom supplies, and provide each child and teacher with a Hooker oak T-Shirt.

Sports Equipment

Funds help replace old sports equipment, and paint fun designs and activities on our blacktop.

Sprouty Store

Throughout the year, kids earn Sproutys for good behavior - showing kindness, and being safe, respectful, and responsible. They get to spend these Sproutys at a monthly Sprouty Store, which is run by the PTO.

School improvements and Beautification

In 2025 we completely remodeled the staff room, and in 2026 we gave our library a much needed upgrade.

Nature Center cleanup and maintenance

The Green Committee continues to maintain our Garden and Nature Center

Books for our library

We realized our school’s library had an average age in the 1990’s. We will continue to purchase new books each year to bring it into the 21st century
